Hector Rail is strengthening its position in Germany and continental Europe, which the company regards as a strategic and very important market with potential long-term growth opportunities for the Hector Rail Group.
“To enable our growth ambition, we have decided to establish our German company as an independent business unit under the leadership of a new Managing Director. For that purpose, I am pleased to announce that Stig Kyster-Hansen has been appointed Managing Director for Hector Rail in Germany,” the Group CEO Joakim Landholm says. “In his role, Stig will be a new strong member of the Group Executive Management team,” Joakim continues.
Stig – a Dane by birth – has a strong and diverse background in the European rail freight industry and has held leading positions within the DB Group in Germany and Scandinavia, and he played a vital role in the start-up of ERS Railways in the Netherlands and Germany. Stig is also a graduate from Copenhagen Business School.
To allow Hector Rail in Germany a well-planned and controlled transition to a stand-alone business unit as well as a controlled separation from Hector Rail Scandinavia, the appointment as Managing Director will be effective as of 1st of January 2018. In the meantime, Stig will support the Hector Rail Group full time on a consulting basis. Leading up to January 1st 2018, David Knowles is still the Managing Director accountable for both Scandinavia and Germany.
“I am very much looking forward to use my experience and knowledge in leading and implementing the proven strong business model of Hector Rail and GB Railfreight as strong and innovative challenger on the German rail freight market to the benefit of the German rail freight customers,” Stig comment.
